Apprenticeship Programs

CNA Apprenticeship

The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Apprenticeship is career pathway where individuals obtain paid work experience and classroom instruction through a nationally recognized Apprenticeship. A Certificate of Apprenticeship is received upon completion of training representing an important milestone in attaining improved skills and competencies that can boost career advancement opportunities.

The CNA Apprenticeship program is approved by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) and the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship.

Related Instruction: This non-credit training program prepares individuals for entry-level positions as certified nurse assistants in long-term care facilities. The course exceeds the required 75 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of supervised on-the-job training. The CNA apprenticeship training is typically ten weeks in length; classroom time (one day per week 8am-4pm) and clinical time (two days per week 6:45am-3:15pm).

On-the-Job Learning: On-the-job-learning is a hands-on method of teaching the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed for employees to perform a specific job within the workplace. Employees are paired with a mentor and learn in an environment where they will need to practice the knowledge and skills obtained during their training.

Certification: An individual must successfully complete a DHSS final written examination and a minimum two-hour final practicum exam before a certificate can be issued and that individual's name placed on the Missouri State Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Registry.
